One of my favorite all time models is Kat Love.  We were going to shoot in a Secret undisclosed location…but, it was closed.  So we went up Mt. Diablo instead.  Here’s a smattering of what we shot.

Kat is simply amazing.  My favorite model by far…

A Mystery Model

Ξ November 15th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Blogifile |

A found a “mystery model” on craigslist.  She was willing to do nudes, but not if her face was shown.  So, we shot in Len Cooks studio and pretty much hid her face :)

Here’s some samples.  I think they’re lovely.

There is just something about models who do yoga….

Sarah Ellis

So, I really need to catch up on my shoot memoirs :)  I’ll do some quick updates.

In July (on my birthday), I got so shoot with the Lovely Sarah Ellis in a secret location.  Sarah was fantastic to shoot with.  We started out in a little patio outside of the kitchen of the lovely house we shot in.

We then moved inside and did some work in the kitchen.

And then to the backyard hammock

Then to the dining room table :)

Back to the counter by the kitchen

So then, we moved to the couch in the family room.

Then by the door leading to the patio that we first shot in.

And then we played with flour…or rather Sarah played with flour

The of course, after you play with flour, you have to take a bath/shower

All in all, I think a good time was had by all!

Carole

So, I happend to be in the South of France visiting LaCiotat.  I looked up models in the area and found Carole.

Carole is a fantastic model.  We started out in my hotel room because I was so enthralled with the blinds on the window.  The provided some fantastic light.

I then wanted to do some work on the bed.  I was going for the sleepy just woken up look but wasn’t too successful.  I like the results anyway.

So, after about an hour we were done.  The hotel manager looked at us a little strangely when we left, but I just ignore him :)

So, then we went to a “secret” place that Carole thought there wouldn’t be any people at.  It was a park nearby.

We hiked a bit to the location shown above.  I think this is a rock quarry.

Did I mention it was hot and humid!  Anyway, Carole was a great sport but was a little bummed out because someone had come and cut down a bunch of trees and sort of trashed the area.  The ledge behind her used to be clean and great for posing :(

We then moved to a little cement hut up around the corner and got a few shots.

Finally we went up to the cliffs above laciotat and although Carole got a little scared, we found an awesome spot to finish up.

It was a great day and I would love to shoot with Carole again!

Lily Shoot 3

Ξ May 13th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

When I heard that Lily was leaving for an extended trip and possibly the country, I felt it neccesary to do another shoot with her before she left. Since I hadn’t worked in a real studio with her, I tried to find a studio in Oakland that I could use for the shoot. I found a small adequate space here at Beardley Photo.

Lily seemed a bit melancholy (maybe she was tired with working with me), but she still rose to the occasion and pulled off an amazing number of poses and put up with a lot of light changes and me generally fumbling around.  We first worked with some shadows (something I’ve been trying to get right for decades it seems like).  I think we go some resonable results.  Here’s a sample:

We then went on to do some work with a white backdrop.  Here is what that looks like in setup.

With images that turn out like.

We then went back to try bathtub work again.  Here’s what that looks like.

With results like.

And finally, the oil and water thing that I can’t seem to get enough of.

With results like:

Which is shot shooting straight at the wall of light.

That was pretty much it.  I haven’t got through all the images yet since I had a second shoot two days later with Maria.  I’ll be blogging that shoot soon

Lily Shoot 2

Lily is a fantastic model. She has a lovely figure, knows how to pose, and is willing to go the extra mile to get the shot. We originally had an idea to shoot in an old abandonded building in Point Richmond, but when we got there there was a bunch of toxic waste cleanup guys in white suits pulling out asbestos…not a really good idea for us to go in there.

Instead, we went out to Ferry Point at the Miller Knox Regional Shoreline. We shot in an old derilict building at the very point:

We then shot in the right hand building first

And finally by a very cool window looking out over the bay. We had to be careful since there were guys out fishing on the pier:

We then hopped down below by the coast and shot a few shots there

Then, it was time to move to a new location. We took a short hike up on to the hill overlooking the bay.

View Larger Map Lily hopped up into a tree…so naturally, I had to take some photos!

There were some lovely flowers, so we shot some there as well.

Finally, we went over to the bulb:

There we found some cool rebar an sticks!

And, finally some pretty flowers

I also throught the way her dress looked on her was lovely, so we tried some shots with the dress.

Then…it was time to end the shoot.  Lily informed me at this shoot that she was going to be taking a road trip and eventually ending up in Ecuador!  Bummer…so…I had to schedule one last shoot before she left!  More on that later.

Kneely Shoot

Ξ March 12th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

So, I’m going to start writing post shoot blog entries so I can remember these wonderful times in my old age…

So, I went to death valley to do some nature shoots, but also wanted to do some nudes.  I found a wonderful model named Kneely who lives in Las Vegas who was up for some outdoor nudes.  I decided it would be better if I came her way so we agreed to shoot at Red Rock Canyon.

We hiked up into the Calico Hills.  Here are some google earth images of the general location.

I’ll go through each spot and tell a little story…

About Sublime-Nudes

Ξ February 26th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Blogifile |

First off…a definition

sub·lime        (s?-bl?m’)  Pronunciation Key
adj.

  1. Characterized by nobility; majestic.
  2.
    1. Of high spiritual, moral, or intellectual worth.
    2. Not to be excelled; supreme.
  3. Inspiring awe; impressive.
  4. Archaic Raised aloft; set high.
  5. Obsolete Of lofty appearance or bearing; haughty: “not terrible,/That I should fear . . . /But solemn and sublime” (John Milton).

So, I guess that seems a little bit arrogant.  I’m really not an arrogant guy, but I try to make my nudes sublime.  That is…inspiring awe, or impressive.  Whether or not I achieve that is solely up to the viewer.  I have created images (with the help of awesome models) which I feel are tasteful, artistic and an exploration of the form.

Anyway, here’s a picture to brighten your day:

Fenny

I guess you could call me a GWC although that’s a pretty derogatory term to describe what I do.  I’m not a pro, but I have sold prints, been in gallery shows and such, but I don’t make my living this way.  I do it because I love working with models to create images that are stimulating and beautiful.
